Fire Mountain (Germany) Riesling 2000
From the very un-Germanic name and label, to the Bordeaux-shaped bottle, this is one of those new breed of German wines trying hard to win over a sceptical wine-buying public. Consistently delicious in the past few vintages, it delivers juicy ripe pear and lime fruit on the nose and lush, full clean apple pear and citrus flavours on the palate with just a hint of being off-dry before tangy sherbet lemon and grapefruit acidity firms-up the finish. From the Pfalz, one of Germany’s more southerly wine regions where the wines tend to a more full-bodied, weighty style. Delicious Riesling Sainsbury’s, 2.99 down from 3.99
