Along with its sister wine, the Premium Cuvee Merlot, this is the bold new face of Bulgarian wine in the UK, with trendy flanged-top bottles and vivid purple synthetic corks. Produced in a new state-of-the-art winery, this wine recaptures some of the elegant fruitiness that made Bulgarian Cabernet so appealling and such a bargain in the 1980’s, before the political upheavels of the 1990’s led to a period of instability. Unoaked and fresh in style, this is juicy, blackcurrant and cherry scented Cabernet with a spine of tannins in the mouth and little nuances of plum and chocolate beneath fresh red fruits.
