Graham’s, Six Grapes Port, Portugal
Six Grapes is not a vintage Port, but a blend of around two or three vintages, with an average age of around eight years. Made with the six main grapes of the Douro’s Port vineyards, this is a youthful, black-fruited wine with lots of black berries, tobacco and herbs, and the spirit nicely integrated. On the palate it has plenty of sweetness, and behind a really big tannin and ripe, plummy black fruit underlay. It is chocolaty and rich, with lovely bittersweet qualities to match with dark chocolate desserts, but also with blue cheeses or to sip after dinner. More information in the video. Around £15, Stockists include Cambridge Wine Merchants and Thomas Peatling.
