19/04/2015 – Château de Tracy, Pouilly-Fumé 2013

Chateau de Tracy, Pouilly-Fume ‘Les Princes Ermites’ 2013, France
This is a classic Sauvignon Blanc from one of the great appellations and producers of the Loire Valley. Renowned and named for the smokiness the soils can impart on its wines, Pouilly-Fume is the great alternative to neighboring Sancerre, and Chateau de Tracy arguably its most famous name. Add to that, the respected white wine consultant Denis Dubourdieu helped make this wine. The nose has a haunting elegance with exotic guava and lychee ripeness fusing with that delicate smoky minerality, and a suggestion this will have intensity and weight. That carries through to the palate, with loads of juicy orange and grapefruit, but always hinting at that exotic fruit ripeness and a rounded, rich texture riven with fine acidity into the finish.
