Quinta de Azevedo, Vinho Verde 2011, Portugal
One of my favourite white wines of the moment has been consistently so for a few years now, this fresh, crisp and delicious Vinho Verde from the company Sogrape. Made from traditional local varieties and with only 11% alcohol, it has classic light spritz and zinging, fresh aromas of salty sea breezes, lemon and crunchy apple. As fresh as a mountain stream on the palate too, the gentle effervesence just adds to the crispness, with plenty of fruit and a dry, mouth-watering finish. Great value for a wine of real character and a great example of modern Vinho Verde.
