Poggio Torselli (Italy) Chianti Classico 2003
Alluring and fragrant nose of black cherries, tobacco and touches of sweet, smoky vanillin. Clove spice and a hint of gamy character add interest. On the palate there is full, ripe, glossy Morello cherry fruit, but the suggestion of sweetness is immediately cut by a terrific backbone of acidity, a supple, cedary quality and finely-wrought, sinewy tannins. This wine has plenty of structure and definition, but no lack of mouthfilling fruit. 10.95 Flying Corkscrew.
