20/01/2008 – Errazuriz, Single Vineyard Sauvignon Blanc 2007

Errazuriz (Chile) Single Vineyard Sauvignon Blanc 2007
The fruit for this wine is sourced from Errazuriz’s La Escultura vineyard in the Casablanca Valley, 20 miles from the Pacific Ocean. The cool, maritime-influenced climate makes the Valley an ideal location for the production of Sauvignon Blanc. La Escultura was planted between 1992 and 1994, and although this wine was cool fermented in stainless-steel, lees ageing and 4% barrel fermentation has given some real complexity. The nose is beautifully pitched, with a luscious sense of tropical, ripe fruit, but a very nice grassy and currant leaf cut, and zest Kaffir lime leaf nuances. On the palate a beautifully cool, clear, prsitine fruit character, with echoes of that tropical mango and nectarine fruit, but a blast of tangerine and fresh, fat, juicy lime and a constraining edge of minerality give this lovely cut and precision. Juicy and mouthwatering, yet with plenty of fruit, substance and length, this is a tour de force Sauvignon form Errazuriz. £9.95, Berry Bros & Rudd
