Marks & Spencer, Saint Mont Blanc 2012, France
The Plaimont Cooperative makes this wine for M&S, and they truly are masters of conjuring these fresh, limpid and zingy whites from the Saint Mont terroir in South West France, the wines still retaining a touch of steely reserve. This blend of the indigenous Gros Manseng, Arrufiac and Petit Courbu has a vibrant peach and passionfruit nose, with loads of freshness and crunch from grapeftuit and lime, and a touch of green leaves. The palate has real cut – like freshly sliced pink grapefruit straight from the fridge – with again that hint of more exotic peach and pineapple leaving this dry but easy to drink.
