Wine of the Week – 2/12/2013
Not one, but two wines of the week in this Christmas special. Both wines come from New Zealand, home of wines that can nicely straddle the line between classical European restraint and New World ripeness and richness. The first is a brand new wine from the impressive Villa Maria made from the Arneis grape, native to Piedmont in northwest Italy. It is fruity and fresh, with plenty of apple and mineral acidity, but an extra dollop of fruit to fatten the mid-palate more than its Italian cousins. The scond comes from star estate Craggy Range, a single vineyard Pinot Noir from Martinborough that has the perfect blend of deep and rich red fruits, earthy and beetrooty Pinosity and structural tannins and acidity. Both would make great Christmas Day lunch parntners. Watch the video for more information and food matching suggestions. Villa Maria: 11.99, larger Tesco and Tesco.com, Craggy Range: 22.50, Majestic but on offer at 17.99 until end January 2014.See all stockists on .
