Château Ka, Cadet de Ka Red Wine
Lebanon is a fast-growing wine country. Only a handful of wineries operated in the 1990s, but now there are over 40, sourcing their fruit from the Bekaa valley that sits at 1,000 metres above sea level. I had a in 2012, where this estate was excited to have had a wine listed by M&S. It is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Syrah, with a bouyantly fruit-filled aroma, notes of spice and smokiness from barrel ageing, but all about the deep black fruit. A big wine on the palate, with 14% alcohol and plenty of beefy tannins, that black fruit and tang of fruit skin acidity powers through.
