Torres, Santa Digna Gewurztraminer 2010, Chile
The family-owned Torres wine company from Spain was a pioneer ‘incomer’ to the modern Chilean wine scene, and have had a winery there for many years. This Gewurz is a very nice example of what the company does in the southern hemisphere, with its rose petal and exotic mango and lychee fruit and floral perfume, but there’s a baked apple pie quality too that makes it very inviting. It hints at being off-dry, but there’s so much orange and grapefruit acidity that wooshes across the tongue that it is absolutely fresh in the finish.
