26/06/2010 – Averys, Pioneer Range Eden Valley Riesling 2009

Averys, Pioneer Range Eden Valley Riesling 2009, Australia
It’s been a glorious start to summer across the UK, so even although it may be a touch predictable, what better way to celebrate than with the ultimate summer wine: Riesling. This example comes from the Eden valley in South Australia and is made by Louisa Rose of Yalumba, in consultation with John Avery, the globe-trotting figurehead of Averys of Bristol. The wine has typcial, crystal clear aromas of fresh cut lemon and limes, a touch of grassiness and an ozoney, mineral quality. The palate offers lots of rich texture, a touch of waxiness and that drive of fresh-squeezed lime fruit and acidity. A dry, fish and seafood-friendly wine and marvellously thirst quenching. £8.99, Averys
