03/11/2013 – Khulmann-Platz Alsace Pinot Gris 2012

Khulmann-Platz, Alsace Pinot Gris 2012, France
Pinot Grigio has become the standard pub and by the glass wine for many people for its light and inoffensive charms, but some Pinot Grigio is more serious, especially if it appears under it other name of Pinot Gris. This is quite typical of the Alsace rendition of Pinot Gris, with a touch of residual sugar making not exactly sweet – certainly not with the excellent balancing acidity – but rich and fairly voluptuous. It has loads of fruit and spice, a lovely weight in the mouth and bags of flavour as well as that sharply detailed finish.
