31/03/2013 – Agro de Bazán, Albariño ‘Ambar’ 2010

Agro de Bazan, Granbazan Albarino ‘Ambar’ 2010, Spain
I tasted a fascinating range of Albarinos from this top notch bodega courtesy of Scotland’s Villeneuve Wines, including early picked ‘Verde’ and barrel-fermented cuvees. But I have chosen this, the flagship and mid-priced ‘Ambar’ bottling because it is just a stunningly good example of a traditional Rias Baixas Albarino. Flooded with lemon and lime, but nuances of peach and of ozoney, seaside freshness, the palate exhibits a weight of fruit and more of that almost tropical nectarine juiciness before a sweep of citrus and mineral acidity powers through the finish. Fantastic and characterful Albarino. Watch the video for more information and food matching suggestions. 15.00, Villeneuve Wines.
