Tahbilk, Marsanne 2007, Australia
Marsanne is one of the Rhone Valley’s great triumverate of white wine grapes along with Viognier and Roussanne. But whilst Viognier is now common as a ‘single varietal’, Marsanne is much rarer. One of the great, classic exponents of the grape is Tahbilk in Victoria, Australia. This slowly maturing 2007 has aromas of honey and honeysuckle, lemon zest and apricot. On the palate the full texture and fine, racy fruit is sliced through by decisive citrus and apple acidity to juicy, savoury effect. Watch the video for more information.
