Abbotts (Minervois, France) ‘Cumulus’ Shiraz 1997
Sheila Abbot who has, believe it or not, a PhD in ‘the aromas of the Shiraz grape’, has made a delightfully aromatic wine, with a deep crimson colour and sweet berry aromas suggesting dusty, peppery blackberry fruit. Quite fat and mouth-filling with lots of ripe fruit. Creamily-textured and really quite a chocolaty depth of flavour. Rich, full, spicy and very good. 4.99, Victoria Wine (03/99).
