06/02/2011 – Mont Tauch, Les Garrigues Grenache Noir 2010

Mont Tauch, Les Garrigues Grenache Noir 2010
The excellent Mont Tauch co-operative in the south of France is the producer of this Grenache, from old vineyards (some 100 years old), that has a plump, fruity character with a touch of plum jam richness sprinkled with a little cedar in the background from some oak ageing in older barrels. The fruit on the palate has that same plum and black fruit juiciness, a bite of plum skin and cherry skin tartness and supportive tannins that make it savoury and firm, whilst being juicily easy to drink. More detail and food matching advice in the video. 8.99 in Sainsbury’s, but on offer at 6.74 from February 9th for eight weeks.
