(2023) This 100% Pinot Noir pink is made by the saignée method, whole bunches of grapes 'bleeding' colour and phenolics during pressing. It has a notably deep colour, with aromas of rich strawberry and red cherry aromas, a suggestion of Negroni on the nose for me. There is a sour cherry bite on the palate, the sweetness of the dosage against the cranberry and cherry richness, a little tannin adding a robust edge to the finish. A distinctive style.
(2018) Forty hectares of steep, south-facing vines have been farmed by the Gremillet family for generations. This is a Rosé d'Assemblage, the technique of fermenting Pinot Noir as a dry wine separately, and adding it to the blend before the second fermentation in bottle. Gremillet then ages its wine for 24 months. It is a particularly fruity style of pink Champagne, bold summer berries and a nice background hint of biscuity autolysis, it seems to have quite a modest carbonation, then a very dry, lemony finish.
(2018) From a 2015 base, with 2013 and 2014 reserves, 55% is Chardonnay from Mareuil-sur-Aÿ, 38.5% Pinot Noir from Mareuil-sur-Aÿ, the assemblage made with 6.5% oak-aged Pinot Noir red wine from the 2014 vintage, and also from Mareuil-sur-Aÿ. This was fermented in stainless steel with a dosage of 6.5 g/l. A certain ripe, juiciness of Chardonnay dominates this release, yet underneath the lush fruit is a lurking complexity of fine, summer berries.  A light rosé style, made using the “assemblage" method, it is eminently drinkable, with surprisingly versatility at the table.  Drink: 2018-2020, when it has the potential to score 90/100.
(2016) Quite a depth of cherry colour to this blend of 90% Pinot Noir, 10% Chardonnay. It has small bubbles and a very racy raspberry character to the moussey flavour. Dry, small red fruits, a hint of toffee and tannin, but lovely freshness and bite on the finish.
(2014) A 'saignée' method rosé, where around 80% of Pinot Noir was fermented with Chardonnay until enough colour and flavour had leeched from the skins. This is all about red berry fruit, from its quite deep cherry colour to the cherry and raspberry touches freshening the palate. It has a crisp, tantalising dryness and raciness to the mousse, but it is relatively full-bodied too with texture and the pillow of mousse carrying through to a long, clear and well-balanced finish. I really enjoyed this, the first time I can recall tasting the Delamotte Rosé.
(2012) This Pinot Noir dominated blend pours a delicate pale copper colour. The nose is really quite rich, with cream and bready notes and a honeyed character to nice bruised apple and pear fruit. The palate has a nice sense of easy-drinking sweetness and some breadth, making this very approachable, with good acidity and a fine, crisp mousse giving some elegance too.
