The use of soft plastics to make stuff "feel nice" - often handles of various descriptions. They may work well with the item is new, but soon disintergrate, particularly in the dishwasher or if left exposed to sunlight. And I recently discovered black mould can grow into the surface and is impossible to remove. Nothing wrong with modern hard plastics, which can be designed to last.
Oh, and also soft plastics used to make "comfortable" shoe soles. Even if shoes are not used and kept in a dark place, in the space of a few (several?) years they can deteriorate horribly. On two occasions the shoes seemed fine when I put them on, but the soles deteriorated into a sticky mess within an hour or so of wearing, and became practically useless. This happened once at a funeral, and the second time when I was in an airport going on holiday. At least in the airport it was possible to buy a new pair, and dump the old one.
