Not anymore I heard. Delta dominant now. That’s an interesting graphic, Po-Yu. I’m amazed there is still so much Alpha! Still the dominant strain?

I can‘t answer the travel rule part, but for the question itself, it is common for covid patient to have a period of time that virus can sometimes be detected by PCR (sometimes not), it can be for weeks, in rare occasions for months. This kind of virus shedding is low in titre (high Ct value) and not considered to be infectious. The NHS says not to have another COVID test for 90 days after testing positive, I assume as there is a risk of a false positive? Anyone know what the chances of this are?
I've never thought that that was an either/or question!Cock-up or conspiracy? You pays your money………
This might help you Jasper:has anybody managed to find actual statistics on the variants and where they are prevalent in France (all parts)? I havent from french government covid site, nor from the Observer article
That's from late June if you read the bottom prints. What I understand (and Mike also quoted) is that Delta is dominant in France since last week.I must be reading this wrong, then. The blue bit is in theory Alpha and in "Flash #12" it's nearly 50%, compared to Delta's 30%
So on 9th July "The Delta variant of Covid-19 will be dominant in France within days, the health minister said today, ahead of a meeting of ministers on Monday (July 12) in which they are to discuss whether new Covid measures are needed."France Covid: Delta ‘dominant within days’, new measures under review
Ministers are to meet on Monday to discuss the worsening health situation and whether new Covid rules and restrictions are neededwww.connexionfrance.com
As per this article Johnson’s dead cat: the real reason why holidays to France are off | TheArticleYes the beta variant is prevalent in French territories, not on the French mainland - even though Astra is not particularly efficacious against beta the reason why the Johnson government decided to change the guidance re France was to deflect attention from the exponential rise in cases here, and to give succour to the fiction that things are even worse overseas. This from a reliable source close to the government.
"Which is precisely when it should be done" (c) B. Johnsonone can argue it's too late for France to restrict travel now.
Not bothering with the day 5 release test, then?Just returning from France via Dieppe. Left UK 15/07 for my daughter's wedding in Le Mans this Saturday day just gone. Due to change with France, had to order day 8 test on Sunday as I had only booked day 2 test before leaving. Arranged PCR test online for Sunday morning which cost €49 plus €20 additional fee. All straight-forward, apart from having to pay £253 for the UK tests. Will have to isolate on my return, luckily I can continue to WFH.
So, no absolute proof I can find; but it was a theory by Gavin QuinneyNayan, your suggestion is intriguing - whose allegations, it would be interesting to know?
I don't see the point, as I will back WFH on the Monday. Plus I save some money! Not bothering with the day 5 release test, then?
The cost of the tests in the UK is scandalous. The NHS should be providing them at cost. All straight-forward, apart from having to pay £253 for the UK tests.
You should be able to sign a pdf using standard Adobe acrobat these days straight off a mobile or laptop. Might save some trouble.Filling out the various forms on Eurotunnel for my wife and kids to drive there on Sunday.
It would appear "computer says no" - they can't accept that my under 11 year old daughter doesn't need a PCR test to go to France. Soooo frustrating.
And another thing - they expect you to print off forms, sign them and then upload them. Not sure how many people take printers with them everywhere these days.... but I am not one of them
I have signed contracts online-there's a sort of squiggle thing somewhere which is apparently acceptable.they expect you to print off forms, sign them and then upload them.
