(2023) With an average age of 50 years plus, this is far older than the Rare Muscat classification average requirement of 30 years. All Saints’ unique Museum Muscat and Muscadelle have an average age of over 100 years, testament to their extraordinarily old stock. Dark chocolate, sticky date, salted caramel and burnt fig notes all honed and lifted by high quality neutral spirit. Massive concentration and a seemingly never-ending finish. Superlative. Price for a half bottle. (GD)
(2021) After fermentation in stainless-steel, thirty percent was aged in French oak barrels for a short period. A very much more modern, perhaps even international style here, with plum, cherry and liquorice aromas, some brightness and pot-pourri lift to the aromas, saffron and vanilla in the background. On the palate it is smooth and unruffled, plenty of creamy black fruit and crowd-pleasing ripeness. Does it lack a little Georgian personality? Arguably yes, but it is a fine and delicious wine of character and class. £13.50 by the case from justincases at time of review.
(2018) The high quality Prosecco house of Canevel makes its wines in conjunction with the renowed Masi estate of nearby Valpolicella, this off-dry wine from the hillsides of Valdobbiadene in Prosecco being 100% Glera. Very fine, very racy, a golden delicious ripeness, then the 16gl of sugar and a certain peachiness absorbed into the racy sherbet lemon clarity of the fruit and acidity. A balanced, dry impression on the finish despite the sweetness of the sugar being quite obvious.
